A Harsh Truth of Life All Men Need To Accept
Most won’t accept this, let alone make peace with it.
OK, so before we get started, yours truly needs to say that this post isn’t a pity party. Nothing you’re about to read is a cry for help, nor should you see it as an excuse for you to do that, too. It’s a statement of what is and nothing more. OK? Cool. Now, with that in mind, let me show you something.
You see this post? It’s about the very real harassment and online stalking I suffered at the hands of a bat-shit crazy woman two years ago.
You see how provocative that title is? You’d expect it to garner a lot of clicks, right? Well, apparently not, because it's only been read 34 times, waaay below average for yours truly.
My stories average around 100-200 reads, and the really popular ones often go well into the thousands. However, when I, a man, wrote a post about the very real abuse I endured at the hands of a woman, people didn’t care to read it.
Cross-reference that with this post, written by a woman who, like me, was inspired by Baby Reindeer to write about her abuse, and see the difference in social interest.
Of course, I have no hard facts on how many reads she got, but the 1K thumbs-ups give me some idea.
So there we are, two adult humans writing about having endured the same horrendous torment, but people inherently cared way more about the woman’s story than the man’s.
I wrote a post about a stalker who tried to get me to kill myself, but because I have a dick, people were like:
Yeah, that’s terrible; pass the salt, please.
But like I said, this isn’t a pity party; it’s just life, and it’s something every man reading these words needs to accept.
